Give monarchs a fighting chance

Give monarchs a fighting chance

To save monarch butterflies, Environmental Action supporters have submitted more than 30,000 public comments to the Environmental Protection Agency calling for a ban on the main chemical in Roundup, glyphosate.

The chemical is destroying the milkweed these butterflies need to survive. And we can’t stop now if we are going to save our monarchs from extinction.

Sally King, our communications director, on her way to deliver the public comments to the EPA.

Monsanto and other powerful companies are working to make sure this toxic herbicide stays around. Meanwhile, monarch populations are continuing to decline as Roundup kills milkweed — the lifesource for their caterpillars — and the effects of climate change make it harder for these beloved butterflies to survive.

We need to do everything in our power to protect monarchs, before it’s too late. Will you support our work today?

If we want to continue to see monarchs fluttering in through the sky each year, we need to take urgent action to help them. Monarch populations face an uphill battle — that’s why we’re working to organize people across the country to help give monarchs the fighting chance they deserve.

Here’s our action plan:

  • We’re amplifying voices from California to Massachusetts to tell the EPA that it’s time to ban Roundup and other toxic herbicides that are killing the plants monarchs need to survive.
  • We’re calling on corporations to do their part — including asking Amazon, Home Depot, Lowe’s and other retailers to do the right thing and sell native milkweed plants that make for healthy monarch habitats and make them readily available in their stores.
  • We’re educating the public about the benefits of monarchs and milkweed, why monarchs are declining and what we can each do in our daily lives to create monarch sanctuaries in our own homes and communities.

But we can only do this with the support of members like you. Will you support our work to protect monarchs and more today?
