There won’t be Arctic drilling without insurance
Did you know that insurance companies have an important role in protecting our planet?

Insurance companies have a part to play in saving the Arctic.
No, they can’t insure mountains and rivers, or the wildlife that call them home. But insurance companies can commit to not underwriting oil and gas drilling in special places.
A growing list of insurance companies have pledged to not help oil and gas companies do business in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. Now, we’re calling on Travelers Insurance – one of the largest insurance companies on the market – to follow their lead.
Drilling would permanently scar the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.
The Arctic National Wildlife Refuge is a truly wild and special place. Its 19 million acres are home to 42 species of fish, 45 mammals, and more than 200 types of birds. There’s no cell phone service, no roads, and the only trails are the ones made by wildlife.1
If oil and gas companies were to come to the Arctic Refuge, the place would be permanently scarred. Oil drilling comes with infrastructure — roads, pipelines, wellpads — all of which fragment animal habitats in the refuge. Not only that, but the equipment has to be transported and installed, which involves destroying sensitive tundra.2
Take action to protect the Arctic.
We can help protect the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. With the help of environmental activists like you, we’ve successfully urged banks and other insurance companies to commit to not funding destruction of the Arctic. Now, it’s time for Travelers Insurance to follow their lead.
