I'm going to zoom right past President Obama's remarks on the Gulf disaster, and skip ahead to the oil industry's selling out of BP with a bag full of manure.

I really do love the NY Times. In particular, their development of the infographic that helps visualize the news in a non-flashy and very helpful way. Like this one, that shows all the places oil has made landfall in the Gulf since the April 20th BP explosion.

Earlier this week, I blogged about President Obama's six month moratorium on new deepwater drilling in the Gulf, and today, I called Environmental Action members to action, in an effort to let Congress know that six months isn't enough.

It's ironic, no, that as we are experiencing the single largest environmental disaster in our nation's history with the BP spill in the Gulf, Senate Republicans have picked this time to try to strip away EPA's ability to regulate greenhouse gas emissions.

Well there's some news at least from the Obama administration regarding the long term ramifications of the BP oil spill. They have initiated a six moratorium on new deepwater drilling in the Gulf.

There's a new 'report' out from congressional republicans who are complaining that the Obama EPA is holding up more mining permits than previously believed while they study the impact on local water supplies.

First off, happy Memorial Day. Secondly, it's tremendously sad to see that the BP Gulf spill is likely to keep gushing oil -- over 10,000 barrels a day -- into August.

There's an article in the Washington Post today that makes me angry enough I could spit. Steven Pearlstein, who's a business reporter for the Post, has a piece entitled, "For All Its Blunders, BP Didn't Cut and Run".

It's official, the BP Gulf oil spill has in fact outpaced the Exxon Valdez spill in 1989, according to media reports. In fact, the lowest government estimate is more than double what BP was estimating.
