And I'm not even talking about Fox News newbie Sarah Palin! Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski is launching an all out attack on the Clean Air Act, and we need to stop her.

Yeah, David over at Grist already beat us to the snarky headline, but it would appear that mountaintop removal mining has a lot more wrong with it than just blowing up mountains. Crazy, but it's true.

We're pretty excited that the EPA is announcing a stronger smog standard than what our previous presidents agency put into place. There's a good article on it in the NYT today.

Holy cow, Richard Pombo must be weathering the recession harder than most. He's willing to move congressional districts just to find a job! As long as that job's in Congress, it would seem.

Happy 2010! Hope your year is off to a great start. Here's something sort of annoying, yet unsurprising (how's that for a great blog name -- 'annoying yet unsurprising' -- have it it, it's yours). I'm a big fan of Greenpeace, let me say that. I have some issues here and there, but overall, a good group. But to hear the head of GP International whining about campaigners being denied bail around the holidays is a little silly.

Like an elected Clark Kent, President Obama flew into Copenhagen at the last minute to broker some kind of climate deal. Of course, I had my doubts that his last ditch effort would work, but here we are with a non-binding agreement. I've pasted the text of the agreement below, and over the next couple days will provide some commentary and thought son it.

Not sure if y'all saw this, but Sen. Byrd gave the coal industry a pretty decent tongue lashing recently, or at least as good a tongue lashing as we're likely to see from a major Appalachian political figure for a while.
