WWF Sells Out
Posted by Dan Stafford on 2010-03-22

I was walking around downtown chicago last week, and I kept seeing these signs on buses. Initially, I thought, 'crickey, now 'earth day' is down to 'earth hour' and sort of did a grumpy face.

But then I realized this is some projected taken on by ComEd and the World Wildlife Fund -- you know, the people with the panda on their bags. And THEN I really started cursing up a storm.

You see, ComEd is a big electricity provider -- and their parent company is Exelon energy, the operator of about a dozen nuclear power plants throughout the country.

And guess what?

One of those plants had spilled millions of gallons of water containing tritium -- a radioactive form of hydrogen -- about sixty miles southeast of Chicago.

Interestingly, a huge champion of nuclear power has been President Obama. Well, Exelon has close ties to the president, with his strategist David Axelrod having done consulting for them in the past.

Just saying that perhaps -- perhaps -- one of the largest utility companies in the world isn't exactly a champion of the environment, but would like people to think they are.

And sadly, WWF is all to happy to sell out to an industry that wrecks the environment.
