Senate Heats Up on Global Warming
Posted by Dan Stafford on 2010-06-10
It's ironic, no, that as we are experiencing the single largest environmental disaster in our nation's history with the BP spill in the Gulf, Senate Republicans have picked this time to try to strip away EPA's ability to regulate greenhouse gas emissions. Yes, believe it or not, with perhaps the worst timing ever, they've picked right now to have an environmental debate in the Senate. I'm not really sure what they're thinking from a PR stance, but they've got to be a little crazy. This is Sen. Murkowski's (AK) pet project that we had hoped was getting stuck in committee, but appears to be turning into a 'thing'. Thankfully, the Obama administration has put out there that they'll veto this should it pass, so in the end this will likely be an exercise in futility. |
