If Only Someone Could Have Predicted

Another offshore oil rig explosion in the Gulf! Shockingly, today, there was an explosion on an offshore rig in the Gulf, on Vermillion 380, a rig owned by Mariner Energy in Houston.

We don't know what's happening in terms of spills, though it would appear that nobody was killed this time. It seems this rig was focused on drilling for natural gas, so I'm guessing we won't see a massive spill of oil into the Gulf.

But that doesn't matter. How many rig explosions do we need before we can just ban the damned practice of offshore oil drilling.

And it's not even the deep water this time. According to federal records, this one operates in water that's about 340 feet deep.
