EPA Issues New Smog Guidelines
Posted by Dan Stafford on 2010-01-07

We're pretty excited that the EPA is announcing a stronger smog standard than what our previous presidents agency put into place. There's a good article on it in the NYT today.

While we're really excited about this, one funny aspect is the quote from The American Petroleum Institute where they complain about the move being "an obvious politicization of the air quality standard setting process". Which might hold water if they hadn't spent close to six million dollars lobbying Congress last year, proving they are not only ok with politicizing these issues, but are willing to pay a pretty penny for it.

We went ahead and sent a Tweet to APIs 'new media' guru, Jane Van Ryan asking her about the obvious irony, and have yet to hear back. If you'd like to ask her, feel free to send her a Tweet too.
