And now for some completely horrific ideas
Posted by Dan Stafford on 2010-06-03

Yesterday I read a horrifically stupid idea in the NY Times. It turns out some set of people are proposing we explode a nuclear bomb underwater to melt the pipe and stop the BP spill.

Thankfully, the U.S. government has widely shut this idea down. It's still a little frightening that the idea was popular enough to make the main page of the Times.

That being said, we've finally heard from the Sarah Palin camp. She's come out saying that environmentalists are to blame for the oil spill.

If you've ever watched The Office, you may remember an episode where Dwight stages a very unconventional fire drill. During the confustion, his colleague Stanley has a heart attack. Everyone is upset with Dwight, then he makes the observation that "Right. I filled him full of butter and sugar for fifty years and forced him not to exercise."

While it's a little different, I do feel that way about Palin's utterly idiotic suggestion. I'm guessing next she'll suggest that it was the pagan ways of New Orleans that caused the spill.
