Ask the Candidates to Double the Standard

Dependence Day, the day on which the United States effectively becomes dependent on foreign imports for the rest has already passed.

Gasoline use is the single greatest source of oil use, accounting for more than 40% of our annual oil consumption. Doubling our gas mileage standard would greatly reduce oil usage by more than 900 million barrels a year. Please take a minute to ask all 2008 presidential candidates to support doubling our national mileage standard.
